Water Mitigation vs Restoration
Two different phases, two different invoices, and why confusing them costs homeowners money.

Mitigation stops the bleeding
Mitigation is the emergency phase: source control, extraction, selective demolition and drying. Its job is to make sure tomorrow's damage is not worse than today's. It typically starts within hours and runs three to five days.
Restoration puts it back
Restoration is reconstruction: drywall, texture, trim, flooring, cabinets and paint. It begins only after documented dry readings and can run from a few days to several weeks depending on scope and material availability.
Why it matters on your claim
Carriers usually process these as separate scopes. Approving mitigation does not approve the rebuild, and a homeowner who assumes one invoice covers both can be caught short when the reconstruction estimate arrives.
