Mold Growth After Flooding
The 24 to 48 hour window, what mold needs to grow, and why bleach is the wrong tool.

The 48 hour rule
Mold needs moisture, an organic food source and time. Drywall paper, wood framing and carpet backing supply the food. In a warm Conroe home, colonies can establish within 24 to 48 hours of a material getting wet.
Why bleach fails
Bleach is mostly water. On porous materials it kills surface growth while the added water feeds the hyphae rooted deeper inside. Professional remediation removes the colonized material instead of trying to sterilize it in place.
What proper remediation looks like
Negative-pressure containment, HEPA air filtration, removal of affected porous materials, HEPA vacuuming of the remaining structure, antimicrobial application and post-remediation verification before anything is rebuilt.
